  1. Checklist for an ideal picnic:

Coordinate the time for your picnic with your spouse, friends, or family.

Check the weather forecast - you don't want to be rained out.

The perfect picnic spot has a combination of sun and shade - it's even better if a creek or river runs nearby. A waterfall nearby well that's heaven to me.

Take a ground cover of a pretty tablecloth, large beach blanket, or quilt.

Be sure to avoid ant hills, rocks, slopes, poison ivy, stinging nettles, and poison oak.

Clean up any debris if necessary.

Bring a picnic basket with wet wipes, plates, cups, napkins, silverware, bottle opener, trash bags, bottled water, and all your favorite picnic foods.

It's Montana bug repellant is a good idea, too.

My favorite foods for a romantic picnic - a fresh baguette bread, wedge of brie, grapes, and a bottle of Chateauneuf du pape wine.

For the family I like fried chicken, veggie plate, oranges, apples, grapes, potato chips, bottled water or sports drink, and of course double chocolate chips cookies or bownies for dessert.

Remember to keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold.

Enjoy nature, and a wonderful picnic in the sun!
